The Success Connection
Welcome to the Success Connection. My name is John Parks Le Tellier and I am the founder of the Success Connection and the creator of our workshops for the family. The concept of doing workshops for students and their parents together occurred to me early in my career as a public school teacher. It happened as a result of requests from parents interested in learning more about the curriculum I was developing for students and was introducing to their children. They began to see positive changes in motivation and attitudes, and their children began demonstrating improved performance in school.
I invited these parents to participate in a one evening workshop. It was well attended and continued for twelve weeks. After this experience I began doing workshops for parents and students together and learned how effective this format is for making positive changes in student achievement and for building a strong family team. I also learned that the ideas and strategies were equally valuable for parents as they are for students.
I continued my work in the classroom and then became a middle school and high school principal. My experience as a principal broadened my perspective and allowed me to see the role of leadership in helping students stay motivated and focused on success. I gained insights into the importance of a strong family team and discovered more ideas and strategies for affecting student performance.
I have always had a strong interest in the impact of motivation on performance and in neuroscience and cognitive science. My studies in these disciplines led me to found Colorado NeuroLearning Center where we worked with students who had sustained closed head injuries, usually in serious automobile accidents. It was difficult but rewarding work. We trained students of all ages, doing everything we could to maximize their recovery and set them up for success in public or private school. We worked with entire families. It was a valuable opportunity for learning more about the brain and for discovering "what works" related to achievement, motivation and success.
In the late 1980's I began working with Quantum Learning Network (QLN) as a trainer and as a curriculum writer. I worked with students in academic and life skills camps called SuperCamps, and then began working to develop a program for teachers and school administrators. I was still in the classroom when I began this work, making direct application to my own students. In recent years I have traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada and to many international locations training teachers and school administrators in the best methodology for learning and improving personal performance. To learn more about our academic programs I recommend you visit our educational web site at QLN.com. The Success Connection is a QLN Cooperative Company focusing on workshops for the entire family.
Our workshops for families perhaps have the greatest potential for positive impact. They are active, dynamic and full of exciting new ideas and strategies. The workshop called Beyond Barriers is designed to teach students and parents exciting new reading, memory and learning skills, and to improve confidence and motivation. These workhops are based on tested curriculum designed to have the greatest impact for improving performance at school, at work and in life.
Students and parents who complete the Beyond Barriers workshop are eligible for a second family workshop should it be made available in their area. This second workshop is called Blazing Trails and is a powerful mix of learning and life skills. Registration for this workshop is only available to those who complete the Beyond Barriers workshop, and participants will be notified it this workshop becomes available in their area.
The intention of these family workshops is to bring families the most up-to-date brain-based strategies for improving our performance and the quality of our lives. We hope you will join us soon in a Success Connection workshop. Feel free to contact me by email if you have questions. My email address is John@SuccessConnectionHome.com.
